What is ISPM 15 Fumigation:

To comply with ISPM 15, wooden packaging material must be subjected to an approved treatment, such as heat treatment (HT) or methyl bromide fumigation (MB). When wooden pallets are treated using methyl bromide fumigation, they are marked with a specific stamp to indicate compliance with ISPM 15 regulations.
The ISPM 15 fumigation stamp typically includes information such as:
- The IPPC logo: This is a stylized logo representing the International Plant Protection Convention, the governing body behind ISPM 15.
- Country code: A two-letter country code representing the country where the treatment was performed.
- Treatment code: A two-letter code representing the specific treatment method used, such as “MB” for methyl bromide fumigation.
- Unique registration number: A number assigned to the treatment provider or facility responsible for the fumigation.
- IPPC mark: A unique mark indicating that the wooden packaging material complies with ISPM 15 regulations.
The presence of the fumigation stamp on wooden pallets certifies that they have undergone the required treatment and are safe to use for international shipping, as they meet the phytosanitary standards set by the IPPC and importing countries.
The fumigation stamp is usually applied to at least two opposite sides of the wooden pallet or packaging material to indicate compliance with the ISPM 15 standard.
